You’ll partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors, leveraging innovation and user-designed, data-driven applications to help us build the most trusted and efficient digital marketplace.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to conduct thorough inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations, detecting damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.
- Prepare and submit a detailed report of vehicle condition, including repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
- Assist the sales team in identifying opportunities to up-sell or cross-sell services and products.
- Interface regularly with our dealers to develop and ensure client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
- Travel to and from dealerships and homes to inspect, write condition reports, and list vehicles to sell on the auction platform.
- Take multiple overall and damage photos, match them to the correct vehicle, and download them to the image server utilizing a company-issued smartphone.
- List inspected wholesale vehicles utilizing the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
- Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize the ACV Auctions digital platform.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience Level: Entry-Level (1 year of experience in the automobile field, including body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge) with a customer service background.
- Education Requirement: Not specified, but ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is required.
- Required Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge) coupled with a customer service background.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
- Proven success in working independently with minimal supervision while effectively contributing to a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand customer needs and expectations, explaining complex information clearly.
- Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle required.
- Proficiency in system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
- Ability to drive both manual & automatic transmission vehicles.
- Exceptional vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Salary and Benefits
This Full-time Vehicle Condition Inspector position offers a competitive hourly compensation ranging from $20.00 – $22.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for additional compensation pursuant to ACV’s incentive compensation plan. Please note that final compensation will be determined based upon the applicant’s relevant experience, skillset, location, business needs, market demands, and other factors as permitted by law.

Working Conditions
This is a Full-time, field-based position operating out of San Diego, CA, United States. You will spend a significant portion of your time traveling to and from dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations to conduct vehicle inspections. The role requires the ability to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions. You will utilize a company-issued smartphone and other digital tools for reporting and image capture. While you will often work independently to manage your inspection routes, you will also be an integral part of a collaborative team, maintaining communication with your Territory Manager and fellow Inspectors. Your personal, validly registered, and insured motor vehicle is required for travel within your territory.
