Job Overview
Pollo Tropical, Florida’s go-to destination for bold Caribbean flavors and fast-casual service, is looking for a dedicated and energetic Shift/Team Leader in Training to join our Orlando, FL team. This entry-level leadership role offers hands-on experience in restaurant operations and is a fantastic stepping stone for individuals aiming to grow into full-time management.
As a Shift/Team Leader in Training, you’ll work closely with restaurant leadership to learn how to run smooth shifts, supervise team members, and deliver excellent customer experiences. You’ll develop leadership skills while supporting the day-to-day flow of operations in both front- and back-of-house roles.
Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with daily shift management under the guidance of senior team leads or managers

Supervise team members to ensure smooth, efficient service during each shift

Deliver exceptional customer service and address guest concerns as needed

Operate the cash register, manage cash handling, and complete basic math calculations

Support team with maintaining cleanliness and operational readiness of the restaurant

Monitor food safety, sanitation, and quality standards in compliance with company policies

Learn and assist with basic administrative duties, including shift reports and audits

Ensure all restaurant equipment and facilities are properly maintained

Train and mentor new hourly employees with guidance from management
Qualifications

Minimum of 6 months experience in a restaurant or food service environment

High School Diploma or GED required

Strong customer service focus and positive attitude

Basic leadership potential with willingness to learn and grow

Capable of operating a cash register and performing simple math functions

Effective communication skills both verbal and written

Ability to solve problems calmly and professionally in a fast-paced setting

Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices

Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform standing/walking duties for extended periods

Working Conditions
This is an on-site, part-time position located in Orlando, FL. Expect a dynamic and fast-paced work environment where you’ll be interacting with guests and team members throughout your shift. Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs. You’ll be using standard kitchen and POS equipment and participating in all areas of restaurant operation.
