Job Overview
Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is actively seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer for a reputable client based in Halifax, West Yorkshire. This is a key leadership opportunity for a seasoned structural engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in steelwork design and project coordination.
As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering innovative and compliant structural solutions. You’ll lead complex engineering projects from concept through to completion, manage client interactions, and guide junior engineers. This position is ideal for a results-driven professional ready to make a lasting impact in the built environment while advancing toward (or already holding) Incorporated or Chartered status.
Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the design of structural steelwork elements, including beams, columns, and connections in line with project specifications and UK standards.

Utilize advanced structural software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, and Masterseries to model and analyze structural systems.

Coordinate directly with clients, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery.

Oversee project budgets, timelines, and quality assurance procedures throughout the design and construction lifecycle.

Contribute to the design of temporary works where applicable (desirable skill).

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.

Ensure all designs adhere to relevant UK building codes and company QA processes.

Participate in technical reviews, site visits, inspections, and prepare detailed design documentation and reports.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.

Actively working toward or holding Incorporated or Chartered status (ICE or IStructE) is preferred.

At least 10 years of structural steelwork design experience in the UK construction sector.

Proficiency in Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, and Masterseries is essential.

Strong understanding of UK structural design codes, Eurocodes, and British Standards.

Excellent leadership, team mentoring, and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage project coordination, client relationships, and QA practices.

Experience in temporary works design is desirable.

Working Conditions
