Duties and Responsibilities

Design structural steelwork elements, including primary members and detailed connections, in accordance with UK design codes and project requirements.

Lead project coordination efforts from design through to delivery, including managing technical inputs, budgets, and timelines.

Use specialized design software including Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, and Masterseries for structural analysis and modeling.

Review and ensure adherence to Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and compliance standards throughout all design stages.

Collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and professional development efforts.

Support or lead temporary works design when required (desirable).

Produce technical reports, drawings, and documentation suitable for client presentation and regulatory submission.

Participate in site visits, structural inspections, and construction coordination when needed.
Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in structural steelwork design within the UK engineering sector.

Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (working toward Chartered or Incorporated status preferred).

Proficient in the use of Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Portal Designer, and Masterseries.

Strong understanding of UK building regulations, design codes (Eurocodes and British Standards), and QA systems.

Proven ability to manage project deliverables, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and stay within budget.

Demonstrated experience mentoring or training junior staff.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in temporary works design is desirable but not required.

Strong analytical skills and attention to technical detail.
Salary and Benefits

Working Conditions
