Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor care delivery for quality and appropriate nursing care within the PACU, ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and resources to support efficient patient care.
  • Review patient medical records for completeness and accuracy, maintaining meticulous documentation.
  • Coordinate staff schedules effectively, addressing staffing needs to ensure optimal coverage.
  • Approve payroll and ensure strict scheduling compliance for all departmental staff.
  • Assist in service recovery efforts by actively resolving patient and family concerns, promoting positive experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with Educators on staff training, orientation, and skill validation programs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model, actively supporting skill development and conflict resolution within the team.
  • Participate actively in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new staff members.
  • Conduct thorough performance appraisals, provide constructive coaching, and initiate disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Lead Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance initiatives within the PACU, driving continuous enhancement of patient care.
  • Provide valuable input on capital and operating budgets and diligently implement cost-saving measures.
  • Contribute significantly to departmental goals, policies, and established standards of care.
  • Conduct regular department meetings and actively participate in hospital and community committees.
  • Maintain personal competence through continuous learning and advance department effectiveness through proactive leadership.
  • Attend all mandatory department meetings and fulfill mandatory education/competencies requirements.
  • Consistently use universal precautions/protective equipment/ergonomic techniques to ensure safety.
  • Comply with all regulatory standards relevant to nursing practice and patient care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility for additional shifts/overtime as needed to ensure patient care continuity.
  • Maintain an Active RN license in Indiana (preferred).
  • Apply minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience, with preference given to candidates who have prior leadership experience.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree as required.
  • Maintain Current licensure and certifications, including BCLS (CPR), and any position-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of nursing care practices, equipment, and departmental procedures.
  • Exhibit effective management skills, including resourceful allocation and team promotion.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to foster collaboration and disseminate information.
  • Apply advanced planning and organizational skills for project management and team coordination.
  • Maintain a strong customer service orientation and problem-solving capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior-Level (Minimum 3 years nursing experience, leadership experience preferred).
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Required Skills:
    • Active RN license in Indiana (preferred).
