Job Overview

Lidl, a dynamic and rapidly expanding global retailer, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Retail Shift Manager to join our store team in HX6 2LF. This leadership role offers the chance to inspire and motivate a team, ensuring the store operates at the highest standards and delivers outstanding customer service.

As a Retail Shift Manager, you will lead by example, delegate effectively, and solve problems quickly in a fast-paced retail environment. You will take on key responsibilities when the Store Manager and Deputy Store Manager are absent, from overseeing freshness checks to managing cash and inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Motivate, guide, and support your team in line with Lidl’s Leadership and Company Principles.

  • Delegate tasks effectively to maintain smooth store operations.

  • Take full responsibility for the store during your shift in the absence of senior management.

  • Oversee critical operational processes, including freshness checks, cash handling, stock control, and inventory management.

  • Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring every shopper has a positive experience.

  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team environment.

  • Maintain composure and professionalism in all situations.

  • Encourage colleagues’ development and contribute to continuous improvement of store operations.

Qualifications

Experience Level: Leadership experience is essential, ideally within a fast-paced retail or customer-focused environment.
Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with emphasis on practical leadership skills.

Salary and Benefits

  • £14.65 – £15.15 per hour.

  • Extra pay for bank holidays and night shifts.

  • Contributory pension scheme.

  • 30–35 days holiday (pro rata).

  • 10% in-store discount from day one.
