Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the initiative for developing standards and policies for overhead electric infrastructure, encompassing engineering, design, and construction for overhead assets and facilities ranging from 120V to 345kV.
- Apply an expert understanding of NESC/NEC requirements to all aspects of standard development and evaluation.
- Plan and conduct complex engineering activities specifically focused on overhead standards, ensuring technical accuracy and practicality.
- Continuously evaluate current standards against evolving code requirements and emerging industry initiatives such as electrification, conversion projects, and new technologies & innovation.
- Assess, develop, and validate standards to meet stringent NESC/NEC and other relevant code requirements, ensuring safety and performance.
- Perform in-depth studies related to new technologies, including but not limited to, analyses focused on structural resiliency of overhead systems.
- Create clear and comprehensive documentation communicating project progress, technical specifications, and justifications for implementing new standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, construction, and operations, to ensure standards are practical and implementable.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers on standards development and application.
- Participate in industry forums and committees related to electric utility standards as required.
Qualifications
- Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior-Level (4+ years of experience developing standards and policies for overhead electric infrastructure).
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Required Skills:
- Proven experience (4+ years) in developing standards and policies for overhead electric infrastructure, specifically covering engineering, design, and construction for overhead assets and facilities from 120V to 345kV.
- Expert understanding of NESC/NEC requirements.
- Demonstrated ability in planning and conducting complex engineering activities focused on overhead standards.
- Skilled in evaluating current standards against code requirements and emerging initiatives (electrification, conversion, new technologies & innovation).
- Proficient in assessing, developing, and validating standards to meet NESC/NEC and other code requirements.

Working Conditions
