Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage point-of-care testing services throughout the facility in accordance with all CLIA and CAP regulations.

Provide training and evaluate competency for clinical staff performing POCT.

Monitor quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in testing results.

Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining POCT policies and procedures.

Serve as a liaison between the central laboratory and clinical departments to ensure cohesive communication and efficient operations.

Troubleshoot POCT devices and issues, escalating as necessary to appropriate technical support.

Prepare documentation and reports for audits, inspections, and internal reviews.

Maintain accurate records of staff certifications, quality control checks, and equipment maintenance.

Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) to compile and communicate data effectively.

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, offering insights into optimizing lab performance and patient outcomes.
Qualifications

Active MLS certification from ASCP, AMT, or an equivalent accrediting body.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) and/or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).

In-depth understanding of CLIA and CAP standards and their application in a clinical environment.

Proficiency in laboratory QA/QC practices, including documentation and process control.

Experience in staff training, performance evaluation, and competency assessment.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and procedural issues.

Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education Requirements:

Minimum: Associate degree in a relevant clinical laboratory science field with at least 4 years of experience.

Preferred: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree that meets CLIA requirements for a Technical Consultant role.
