Job Overview

Samaritan Health Services is seeking a passionate and dynamic OPAHEC Education Coordinator to lead community-focused health education initiatives in Lebanon, Oregon. This role plays a key part in our mission to build healthier communities by expanding access to career-focused health education and increasing awareness of wellness, public health, and healthcare professions in underserved areas.

As a member of the Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center (OPAHEC) team, you’ll help bridge the gap between healthcare systems and the public by delivering inspiring educational content, developing career exploration curricula, and leading outreach programs across schools, communities, and partner organizations. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in educational and community engagement settings, has a clinical or health education background, and wants to make a direct impact on the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver health career awareness and exploration programs for K–12 and adult learners

  • Teach basic health science topics, including anatomy, physiology, public health principles, and career pathways

  • Coordinate outreach events, workshops, and webinars in collaboration with local schools, educators, and healthcare providers

  • Maintain strong relationships with community partners, school districts, and regional stakeholders

  • Utilize Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, database systems, and webinar platforms for program creation and delivery

  • Track program participation and outcomes for reporting and continuous improvement

  • Obtain AHA Heart Saver Instructor and Mental Health First Aid Instructor certifications within one year of hire

  • Represent OPAHEC at career fairs, community health expos, and education coalition meetings

  • Support grant-funded initiatives by aligning program goals with grant requirements

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in healthcare or education, or

    • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, public health, education, science, or technology (preferred)

  • Skills & Experience:

    • Strong background in teaching, training, or curriculum development in health or science topics

    • Working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology

    • Experience in public relations, community engagement, or school partnerships

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, webinar tools, and database systems

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to work independently and adapt materials for diverse audiences

    • Bilingual proficiency is a plus (preferred)

  • Certifications:

    • Must obtain AHA Heart Saver Instructor certification within 12 months

    • Must obtain Mental Health First Aid Instructor certification within 12 months
