Job Overview
Gi Group is looking for Meter Readers to join our team in the South West of England. This is an ongoing temporary role in the essential Utilities sector, with full training provided.
You will be responsible for retrieving data from Water, Gas, and Electric meters across domestic, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring accurate billing and providing excellent customer interaction. This is a physically active role requiring resilience, independence, and professionalism while working in all weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities

Retrieve data from Water, Gas, and Electric meters at multiple property types.

Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment.

Complete Charge Point Surveys when required.

Work independently with strong motivation and a professional approach.

Walk an average of 6–7 miles daily.

Perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs.

Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor with customers.

Adhere strictly to Health & Safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience Level: Entry-level — no prior experience needed.
Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Required Skills:

Full UK Driving Licence (1+ year, max 6 points, no DR offences) — not required in some London areas.

Physically fit to handle walking and manual tasks.

Able to work in all weather conditions.

Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).

Clean credit history for the last 6 years.

Five years of employment history.

Previous customer service experience is advantageous but not essential.

Working Conditions
