Job Overview
Gi Group is seeking Meter Readers to join our field-based team in the North West of England. This is an ongoing temporary role in the essential Utilities sector, with full training provided.
You’ll be responsible for retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring accurate billing for Water, Gas, and Electric meters. The role involves working independently, covering a wide area, and engaging professionally with customers. It is physically active and requires resilience to work in all weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities

Retrieve data from Water, Gas, and Electric meters across domestic, commercial, and industrial sites.

Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment.

Complete Charge Point Surveys as required.

Work independently with motivation and professionalism.

Walk an average of 6–7 miles daily.

Perform tasks involving bending, lifting, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs.

Maintain a professional and friendly approach with customers.

Follow Health & Safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience Level: Entry-level, no prior experience required.
Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Required Skills:

Full UK Driving Licence (1+ year, max 6 points, no DR offences) — not required in some London areas.

Physically fit for walking and manual tasks.

Comfortable working in all weather conditions.

Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).

Clean credit record for the last 6 years.

Five years of employment history.

Previous customer service experience preferred but not essential.

Working Conditions
