Job Overview
Gi Group, a global leader in recruitment, is seeking a Meter Reader to work across the East of England. This is an ongoing, temporary field-based role within the essential Utilities sector, involving the retrieval of data from Water, Gas, and Electric meters at domestic, commercial, and industrial sites.
You’ll be the face of the company, working independently and ensuring accurate billing through precise meter readings. The role requires physical fitness, a professional approach, and resilience to work outdoors in all weather conditions. No previous experience is required—full training will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities

Retrieve meter readings from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites.

Perform visual inspections of metering equipment.

Complete Charge Point Surveys when required.

Work independently with strong self-motivation.

Maintain a professional and friendly approach with all customers.

Follow all Health and Safety procedures.

Walk an average of 6–7 miles per day.

Bend, lift, kneel, and climb stairs as required.

Operate effectively in all weather conditions.
Qualifications
Experience Level: Entry-level, with full training provided.
Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills:

Full UK driving licence (minimum 1 year held, maximum 6 points, no DR offences) — not required in certain London areas.

Physically fit and able to meet the role’s demands.

Clear DBS check (no unspent convictions).

Clean credit history (no CCJs, IVAs, or DROs in the last 6 years).

5 years’ employment history.

Previous customer service experience (preferred, not essential).
