Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and registration procedures.

  • Collect and document patient vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information accurately.

  • Assist clinicians with patient examinations and procedures specific to mental health care.

  • Manage clerical and administrative tasks including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and data entry using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and coding software.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to support comprehensive care.

  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure medical supplies are stocked and sanitized.

  • Educate patients about medications, therapies, and follow-up care under clinician supervision.

  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments to facilitate ongoing mental health support.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the smooth operation of the mental health clinic.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant credential is mandatory.

  • Proven experience or training in medical assisting within a mental health or clinical setting.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and health information technology, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) and medical coding software.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to the dynamic needs of mental health care.

  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical standards.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time, onsite position based at our mental health clinic in Corvallis, Oregon.

  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, typically 9 AM to 5 PM, with occasional flexibility as needed.

  • You will work in a clinical environment utilizing current medical technologies and electronic health record systems.

  • The role requires standing, walking, and occasional light physical tasks such as moving medical supplies.
