Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory operations and directly supervise a team of laboratory professionals.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and associate development, fostering a high-performing and engaged team.
- Manage scheduling, training, and equipment performance in collaboration with internal staff and external vendors.
- Monitor the department budget and meticulously track financial performance, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
- Handle escalated customer service matters with professionalism and prompt resolution, ensuring high satisfaction.
- Develop and implement clear department policies, procedures, and goals that align with organizational objectives.
- Apply a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or a biological science as required.
- Possess at least 6 years in a clinical laboratory, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Hold ASCP or equivalent Medical Technologist certification (preferred).
- Meet the qualifications for Technical and General Supervisor as defined in CFR regulations (CFR 493.1451 and 493.1463).
- Utilize strong knowledge of laboratory practices, information systems, and regulatory requirements (CLIA, JCAHO, CAP, Medicare).
- Demonstrate proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Potentially leverage a Master’s in Public Administration or Management (preferred).
- Exhibit flexibility for varied hours as operational needs require, ensuring continuous laboratory function.
Qualifications
- Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior-Level (6+ years overall, 3+ years supervisory).
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or a biological science required. Master’s in Public Administration or Management preferred.
