As a Distribution Design Technician Associate, you will be instrumental in bridging engineering principles with practical construction needs, from assessing customer requirements and designing system layouts to ensuring compliance and managing work requests. Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply 2+ years of relevant experience in work order management, CAD, or GIS; OR 1+ year as a Field Inspector, lineworker, or electrician.
- Utilize proficiency with utility-related software, including Work management systems (e.g., WorkPro), GIS platforms (1 year experience required), PoleForeman, Customer information and outage systems, Distribution engineering tools, and voltage monitoring programs.
- Lead project planning & customer coordination efforts, assessing feasibility, determining electrical load, defining timelines, and maintaining clear communication.
- Manage work request & project tracking, including creating/managing WRs in WMS and updating progress diligently.
- Perform technical design & load analysis, including load calculations, field measurements, and using modeling software.
- Drive GIS & system mapping, drafting/updating layouts, validating connectivity, determining material requirements, and resolving discrepancies.
- Oversee construction documentation & safety, creating/overseeing construction drawings, confirming accuracy, and evaluating MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) requirements.
- Support financial oversight & compliance, reviewing/validating financial data in WMS, and supporting Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Participate in field equipment evaluation, conducting inspections and installing recording devices after training.
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate field conditions, energized environments, and rough terrain safely.
- Possess the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear FR gear/PPE (Flame-Resistant gear/Personal Protective Equipment).
- Exhibit strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all designs and plans align with established safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, field crews, and other departments to ensure design integrity and constructability.
Qualifications
- Experience Level: Entry-Level to Mid-Level (2+ years general relevant experience, 1+ year specific field experience).
- Education Requirement: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- Required Skills:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (Florida license required within 30 days of residency).
- 2+ years of relevant experience in work order management, CAD, or GIS; OR 1+ year as a Field Inspector, lineworker, or electrician.
