Job Overview
Elysium Healthcare, a leading provider of Mental Health services, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our team at the Bere Clinic in Waterlooville. This maternity cover role offers the opportunity to play a vital leadership role in the care of young people aged 12–18 with eating disorders, ensuring the highest clinical standards within a supportive and collaborative environment.
As Deputy Ward Manager, you will work closely with the Ward Manager to lead the nursing team, oversee daily operations, and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. You will provide clinical leadership, act as a role model, and ensure best practice is followed within the Clinical Governance framework. This position requires proven leadership skills, relevant nursing qualifications, and a commitment to evidence-based, person-centred care.
Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Ward Manager in leading the nursing team to deliver high-quality care to young people with eating disorders.

Provide clinical leadership and act as a key resource for the nursing team.

Supervise and mentor staff, maintaining high professional standards.

Coordinate the on-call service and assist with ward budget management.

Ensure compliance with the Clinical Governance framework, continuously improving standards of care.

Manage and utilise nursing staff effectively to optimise patient outcomes.

Act as the person in charge of the ward in the Ward Manager’s absence.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for service users.

Adhere to all safety protocols, regulatory standards, and company policies.
Qualifications
Experience Level: Experienced leader in a clinical mental health setting.
Education Requirement: Relevant nursing qualification with current NMC registration.
Required Skills & Attributes:

Relevant nursing qualification (RMN, RNLD, or equivalent) with active NMC registration.

Proven leadership experience in a similar healthcare environment.

Strong ability to motivate and guide a multidisciplinary team.

Skilled in clinical leadership, supervision, and staff development.
