Job Overview

Samaritan Health Services is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative I (Call Center) to join our team in Corvallis, Oregon. This is a hybrid full-time position, offering a mix of remote and onsite work to support flexibility while ensuring consistent service delivery.

In this role, you’ll be the frontline voice for our patients and members, helping navigate healthcare and insurance inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and clarity. You’ll support our mission to improve community health by providing exceptional customer service that builds trust and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound calls from patients, members, and providers with professionalism and accuracy

  • Provide clear, helpful information regarding insurance plans, benefits, billing, claims, and prior authorizations

  • Resolve concerns related to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance while adhering to relevant regulations and internal guidelines

  • Log customer interactions and maintain accurate records using internal systems

  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely resolution of service issues

  • Follow up on outstanding requests and ensure each interaction is completed to satisfaction

  • Maintain performance metrics related to call handling time, quality, and customer satisfaction

  • Participate in training sessions to stay current on healthcare policies and system updates

  • Identify opportunities for service improvement and escalate complex issues appropriately

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years of professional customer service experience, preferably in a call center or healthcare setting

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and clear articulation

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations

  • Comfortable using call center technologies and CRM systems

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment

  • Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

Working Conditions

This position is hybrid, with a combination of remote and onsite work at our Corvallis, Oregon location. Core work hours typically follow a Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM schedule. The role involves consistent use of phone systems, computers, and healthcare service platforms to manage member communications and resolve inquiries efficiently.
