As a Community Manager, you will be instrumental in launching and managing community channels (Discord, Slack, Reddit), creating special programs like Ambassador initiatives, and acting as the voice of the community to internal teams. You will leverage your direct experience as a creator, deep passion for AI and generative tech, and exceptional on-camera presence to host live events and produce engaging video content. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, moderate, and grow Captions’ community spaces, primarily in Discord, Slack, and Reddit, with a proven track record of successfully building and scaling online communities on these platforms.
  • Create and own the success of special programs and initiatives, such as a Customer Advisory Board, Beta Tester Program, and Ambassador Program.
  • Manage Product Comms, updating and educating customers on feature launches and enhancements via changelog, release notes, and monthly newsletters.
  • Develop tailored strategies for both B2C (Captions App) and B2B (Mirage Studio) communities to foster thriving, engaged groups.
  • Organize and host regular in-person community events, roundtables, panels, fireside chats, and workshops at the NYC office.
  • Represent Captions as the community representative at external industry events, conferences, and creator meetups, demonstrating on-camera presence.
  • Showcase customer work, celebrate their success stories, and turn our customers into heroes through Customer Spotlights.
  • Apply Creator Economy Expertise, with direct experience as a creator, influencer, video editor, or producer, and a deep understanding of challenges and opportunities in this dynamic field.
  • Demonstrate B2B and B2C Experience, building and engaging communities for both business and consumer audiences.
  • Exhibit a deep passion for AI, generative video, audio, and related technologies, with curiosity and enthusiasm for future trends.
  • Possess minimum of 2+ years in a community management or customer engagement role, preferably in the creator or tech space.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Creator Tools such as Descript, Riverside.fm, CapCut, Premiere, or similar platforms.
  • Exhibit exceptional comfort appearing on camera, with the ability to host live events, record video content, and confidently represent Captions at external events.
  • Apply Content Creation Skills, with proven ability to write scripts, storyboard, shoot, and edit engaging, high-quality videos for social media and community channels.
  • Act as the liaison between our customers and internal teams product, support, and marketing to surface community feedback and insights that guide roadmap and experience improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and be the face of Captions in external communities.

Qualifications

  • Experience Level: Mid-Level (Minimum 2+ years in community management, plus experience as a creator).
  • Education Requirement: Relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is typically preferred.
  • Required Skills:
    • Creator Economy Expertise: Direct experience as a creator, influencer, video editor, or producer, with a deep understanding of challenges and opportunities in the creator economy.
    • B2B and B2C Experience: Demonstrated experience building and engaging communities for both business and consumer audiences.
    • AI and Generative Tech Passion: Deep passion for AI, generative video, audio, and related technologies, with curiosity and enthusiasm for future trends.
    • Community Management Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in a community management or customer engagement role, preferably in the creator or tech space, with a proven track record of successfully building and scaling online communities (primarily Discord, Slack, Reddit).
    • Content Creator Community Background: Experience building and managing communities around content creators (e.g., podcasts, YouTube channels, personal creator brands).
    • Familiarity with Creator Tools: Hands-on experience with tools commonly used by creators such as Descript, Riverside.fm, CapCut, Premiere, or similar platforms.
    • On-Camera Presence: Exceptional comfort appearing on camera, with the ability to host live events, record video content, and confidently represent Captions at external events.
    • Content Creation Skills: Proven ability to write scripts, storyboard, shoot, and edit engaging, high-quality videos for social media and community channels.
    • Proven ability to build, moderate, and grow Captions’ community spaces.
