Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Energy, Math, Physics, or Computer Science to all engineering duties.
  • Leverage understanding and potentially experience working with a unionized workforce.
  • Engage with engineering-related projects and distribution electrical equipment, applying theoretical knowledge to practical applications.
  • Utilize understanding of various computer systems and software applications, including Work Management System, Logica, and Demand Aggregator.
  • Apply general knowledge of engineering drawings and map reading for system analysis.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, and technical skills in all tasks.
  • Utilize strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and environmental protection in all system designs and modifications.
  • Collaborate closely with local designers to design and reinforce electrical distribution systems.
  • Provide clear instruction and guidance for service determination and construction layouts.
  • Review and approve distribution layouts, B&A’s, and feeder sequences for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all plans and drawings strictly comply with operating procedures and specifications.
  • Prepare essential documents for major projects and assist in the Capital Budget preparation process.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive tracking reports for performance metrics.
  • Evaluate feeder ratings and assess the impact of new business projects on existing equipment.
  • Analyze distribution reliability data and evaluate proposed projects for improvements.
  • Supervise the effective use of computer applications for engineering tasks.
  • Assess training needs and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis of outages and identify opportunities for system improvement.
  • Track and update distribution maps and diagrams to maintain accurate system records.
  • Provide crucial support during storms, contingencies, or customer outages, contributing to rapid restoration efforts.
  • Monitor and provide engineering analysis during emergency events, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Possess knowledge of programming languages (desirable) to support analytical or automation efforts.

Qualifications

  • Experience Level: Entry-Level to Mid-Level (Associate Engineer title, implies foundational experience is sufficient, supported by “Bachelor’s Degree” as primary requirement).
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Energy, Math, Physics, or Computer Science.
